Rawlings Presents Logon O’Hoppe with 2018 ABCA/Rawlings High School First Team All American Golden Glove Award

Although the 2018 NSCHSAA Baseball season has been over for nearly three months, St. John the Baptist recent graduate Logan O’Hoppe was presented with a prestigious award.

O’Hoppe was presented with The 2018 American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings High School First Team All American Golden Glove Award.  This is the high school version of the MLB Golden Glove Award, given to the best defensive players at their respective position. O’Hoppe was voted Best National High School Defensive Baseball Catcher.  This vote was made by members of The American Baseball Coaches Association which includes High School Coaches, College Coaches, and MLB Scouts.

Ralph Dalton, Boy’s Athletic Director and Assistant Varsity Baseball Coach at St. John the Baptist could not be happier for O’Hoppe.  He stated, “It is extraordinarily rare that you see a player with his skill set to have the work ethic to match.  We are incredibly proud of him and cannot wait to watch him grow as a person and player in the future.”  Casey McKay, Head Varsity Baseball Coach, stated “In my years of coaching I have never seen a better player behind the plate then Logan.  Perhaps more importantly, there is no better person to represent our program.  This could not have happened to a better player and person.”
